Jerl Waitman McCauley 1915-2002 Obituary

Jerl Waitman McCauley, 87, a resident of Route 1, Anglin Run, Philippi, passed away at 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at the residence of his daughter.

He was born May 3, 1915, in Barbour County, a son of the late Waitman A. and Mary McCauley.

He was twice married, first to the former Beluah Corley and second to Iona Marlean White, both of whom preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and husband, Leslie Gillis, Anglin Run, Philippi; one son, Dennis McCauley, Kent, Ohio; two brothers, Edward McCauley, Montrose, and Gaston McCauley, Canton, Ohio; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Violet McCauley; and one son, Donald McCauley.

He retired as a miner operator from Badger 14 Mines. He was a member of the United Mine Workers District 31. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy.

Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jim Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with American Legion Post 44 conducting gravesite rites.
