Jessie Lucille Roberson DeMotto, 87, a resident of Coalton, departed this life late Monday evening, Jan. 28, 2013, in Colonial Place in Elkins. She had been in declining health.

She was born Saturday, March 14, 1925, at Durbin, a daughter of the late Stanley Judson and Vivian Lucille Mullenex Roberson.

On May 22, 1948, at Coalton, she was married to Tony Roger DeMotto, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Mark Andrew DeMotto and wife, Lisa, of Elkins and Matthew Anthony DeMotto and wife, Stacey, of Bridgeport; one sister, Virginia Ash of Fairmont; and four grandchildren, Dr. Andrew Steven DeMotto, PHD of Whiteriver, Ariz., Ashley Lynn DeMotto of Morgantown, Carson Matthew DeMotto and Quinn Anthony DeMotto, both of Bridgeport; and one niece, Doris George and husband, Roger, and their son, Chris, all of Elkins.

Preceding her in death were one brother, Stanley Roberson; and one sister, Lottie Hancock.

She attended the schools of Durbin and was a graduate of Green Bank High School with the class of 1944. She attended Davis & Elkins College and was a graduate of the Davis Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and she earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1953. She had worked at Eastern Aircraft Co. during World War II, in Baltimore, Md. She was the director of the school of nursing at Davis Memorial Hospital. In the late 1960s, she left nursing to join her husband, Tony, and together they owned and operated the DeMotto Harley Davidson and DeMotto Honda Sales and Power Equipment in Elkins, retiring in January of 2010, with 53 years of service. She was a loyal member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church at Coalton, had worked as one of the spaghetti ladies and was past president of the Parish Council. She was an extremely positive person, energetic and fun. She will be remembered dearly by her family and was a person who found the good in everyone.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. On Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, a wake service will be recited by the Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs, VF. On Saturday, Feb. 2, Mrs. DeMotto will be moved to Saint Patricks Catholic Church at Coalton where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. The Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs, VF will be the Presider, and interment will follow in Saint Brendan Cemetery at Elkins.
