John Randall ‘J.R.’ McGraw went home to be with his lord Monday, December 3, 2012 from the Salem Rehabilitation Center at Salem. John was 51 years old and shared his home in Heavener Acres with his loving wife, Regina Channell McGraw. John and Regina were married on January 12, 1986 and enjoyed twenty-six years of marriage. JR was born Wednesday, March 29, 1961 in Mullens, a son of the late Susie Claiborne McGraw and Paul McGraw. Also preceding him in death was his only son, Dewey Lee Mann during 2005, three sisters, Laura, Patty, and Suzanne, and two brothers, Samuel and Paul, Jr., and his mother-in-law, who loved him as a special son, Dorothy Channell. Left to cherish JR’s memory besides his wife, three brothers, Kenny McGraws and wife, Yvonne, of McGraws, Rick McGraw and wife, Judy, of Clairmont, NC, Andy McGraw and companion, Paula, of Myrtle Beach, SC, three sisters, Jan Shumate and husband, Mike, Maridonna, and Caroline, all of McGraws, his father-in-law, Eugene Channell, several nieces and nephews, and a very special cousin that JR thought the world of, Hurk McGraw, a special little girl he referred to as his little “Peanut Butter”, Olivia, little buddies, RJ, Jacob, Anthony, Kyle, and Alavana. JR was a high school graduate having attended the schools of Wyoming County. Although he was disabled, he loved being around kids and playing Santa. He coordinated the “kids’ games” for the McCords Family Reunion and was the Bingo caller for the Montgomery Reunion. He enjoyed collecting stuffed, as well as, ceramic pigs, having collected about 2,500 of them. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 11AM until 1PM, the funeral hour. The Reverend Hurk McGraw and Reverend Randall Montgomery will officiate. Interment will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 1PM at the McGraw Family Cemetery at McGraws.
