Katherine Curran Reemsnyder, age 104, formerly a long time resident of Buckhannon, WV, died August 9, 2013 at Colonial Place in Elkins, WV. She was born July 5, 1909 in Sistersville, WV to the late Daniel and Ella Curran. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David E. Reemsnyder. Katherine was a high school teacher for 7 years in Sistersville. She enjoyed traveling, playing the piano, crocheting, playing bridge, reading, baking cookies and collecting “butter chips.” She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the P.E.O. Sisterhood, AAUW, Eastern Star, WVWC Emeritus Club, Charles W. Gibson Library Board, and the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary. She was also an active member of the Buckhannon Women’s Club and the Wesleyan College Club. She is survived by her three children: Jane R. Soverns and her husband George, of Linthicum, MD; David E. Reemsnyder, II and his wife Judie of Blacksburg, VA; and Kathie R. Kamm and her husband Lou of Pasadena, MD. Katherine is also survived by eight grandchildren: Dan, Dave, Mary, Steve, and Rick Soverns; David III and Jim Reemsnyder; Josh Kamm; fifteen great-grandchildren and her dear friend and neighbor, Edith Logsdon. Katherine’s family will receive friends at First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon at 1 PM on Saturday, August 17, followed by the funeral service at 2:30 PM with the Rev Billee Scott Mick officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dave and Katherine Reemsnyder Scholarship Fund at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
