Katherine Louise Weese “Betty” White, 81, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Friday afternoon, Jan. 18, 2013. at the home of her daughter, Gyvonne Kay Harper.

She was born Thursday, May 21, 1931, at Dartmoor, a daughter of the late Otto and Elvira Frony Cross Weese.

On April 17, 1948, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Ralph Dale White, who preceded her in death, Oct. 30, 1962.

Left to cherish her memory are four children, Rickey Dale White and wife, Susie, of Belington, Randy Lynn White, of Elkins, Mona Louise Taylor and husband, Richard “Red”, of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Gyvonne Kay Harper, of Elkins; two stepbrothers, Harry Owens, of Oklahoma and Clyde “Bucky” Owens, of Fairmont; three stepsisters, Wilma Owens Mader, of Connorsville, Pa., Mary Francis Owens Martin, of Lumberport, and Juanita “Tubbie” Owens Brooks, of Fairmont; four grandchildren, Patricia Louise White Collett and husband, Allen, of Elkins, Richard Dale White, of Belington, Malena Lynn Harper Fortney, of Elkins, and Justin Keith Harper, of Elkins; and 10 great-grandchildren, Alayna Elisabeth Collett, Cayla Leann Collett, Jeyna Brook Collett and Sydney Grace Collett, all of Elkins, Ryan Dale White; Devin Jackson White and Nathan Lane White, both of Belington, Emma Kay Fortney, Macie Lynn Fortney and Dylan Lane Fortney, all of Elkins.

Preceding her in death are one sister, Dorothy Louise Weese Teter; and one granddaughter, Jackie Leanne White.

Betty attended the Hunter Fork School in Randolph County. She assisted Saylie McDonald in a catering business for a number of years, organizing parties and wedding receptions. She later worked for Lillian Agnew at the Flour Box on Reed Street in Elkins. After the catering business, she began cleaning houses for various people in Elkins, who loved seeing her come every morning.

She was a member of the Delphia Rebekah Lodge 62 and the Landmark Baptist Church. She was a good mom and a wonderful grandmother, who also enjoyed working outside in her flower beds.

A family graveside service was conducted at the Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins with Pastor Michael Cross officiating. Interment followed.
