Kathleen Mae Ruggles Simmons, 71, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life early Thursday morning, January 26, 2012 at the Davis Memorial Hospital Emergency Department. She was born Thursday, March 21, 1940 at Rowlesburg, a daughter of the late Jessie Shock Ruggles and Roberta Marie Knotts Ruggles. She had married the late Edward Lee Simmons who preceded her in death during 1990. Left to cherish Kathleen’s memory are three daughters, Kathy Chenoweth and husband, Bobby of Elkins, Judy Koon and husband, Glenn of Dailey, Georgia ‘Liz’ Simmons of Elkins, three sons, Kevin Simmons and wife, Debbie of Manassas, VA, James Simmons and wife, Linda of Daytona Beach, FL, and Charles Simmons of Elkins, two brothers, Forrest E. Pratt and Charles Pratt both of Sneads Ferry, NC, two step daughters, Barbara Simmons of Elkins, and Sondra King and husband, Roger of Lakeland, FL, one step son, Paul Simmons and wife, Debbie of Lakeland, FL, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, five step grandchildren, ten step great grandchildren, one step great great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Kathleen attended the schools of Tunnelton and was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, making quilts, and sewing, and she was a member of the Tygarts Valley Post #3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 11AM until1PM, the funeral hour. The Reverend Hal Boehm will officiate and interment will follow at the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery at Cravensdale.
