KEITHA MAE JAMES ANKROM, age 87 years, a resident of Hambleton, WV, departed this life Friday evening September 23, 2011 at the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center in Elkins, surrounded by her family.

She was born Sunday, June 1, 1924 at Pierce, WV, a daughter of the late Ola C. and Goldie Ellen Raines James. She was first married to Ray Orndoff, Sr., who preceded her in death, then to Ellis Parker Humphrey, Sr., who preceded her in death August 19, 1963 and then to Delbert “Red” Ankrom, who preceded her in death Sept. 13, 1993.

Surviving are one son, Ellis “Duke” Humphrey and wife Abigail of Bowden; one daughter, Linda Scott and husband Stephen, of Hambleton; four grandchildren Andrea Lynn Waid Roberts of Parsons, Dr. Tricia Leigh Scott of Chatsworth, GA, Chad Andrew Humphrey of Buckhannon and Stephen Michael Scott of Elkins; five great grandchildren, Lincoln Michael Scott, Travis David Roberts, Andrew Parker Humphrey, Samuel Keith Murphy and Madison Leigh Murphy; three step grandsons, Jeremy, John and Nathan Kimbleton and four step great grandchildren, Alexandria, Mason, Katelyn and Noah Kimbleton and many special nieces and nephews.

She is the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by one daughter, Lila Grace Orndoff Waid; five brothers, Doyle Closten James, Ola William James, Marvin Elwood James, her Twin, Kermit Dale “Jake” James and Donald Gene James; two sisters, Virda Evelyn James Rizer and Zelda Marie James Bender; one granddaughter, Ellisa Dawn Humphrey; one grandson, Eric Parker Humphrey; and one great granddaughter, Autum Stephanie Scott.

She attended the schools of Pierce and Hendricks. She was an employee of the former Tucker Co. Hospital, former Nella’s Nursing Home and former Dorman Mills, all of Parsons. She loved to cook. She was known for her sense of humor and she never met a stranger. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved music and taught nieces and nephews to play the guitar.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 1 PM, The Rev. Neil Parsons will officiate and interment will follow at the Sunrise Cemetery at Hambleton, WV.
