Kenneth Eugene “Gene” Hedrick, 53, a former resident of Elkins, and more recently a resident of Weaver Road Community passed from this life early Saturday morning, June 23, 2012 at his home. He was in his usual health and death was sudden and unexpected. Gene was born Wednesday, April 8, 1959 at Elkins, a son of Kenneth P. Hedrick and Lula F. Riffle Hedrick who survive at Elkins. Others left to cherish Gene’s memory include three sisters, Peggy Phillips and husband, Roger, Delores Price and husband, Everett, and Diania Mishoe, all of Elkins; two brothers, Roy Hedrick and wife, Amiee of Norton and Bobby Hedrick and wife, Jenny, of Elkins, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Gene in death were his paternal grandparents, Vernon and Gertie Hedrick and his maternal grandparents, Bruce and Nannie Riffle. Gene attended the schools of Randolph County and had not worked due to a disability. He always liked to help people and never met a stranger. He enjoyed hunting and watching racing. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Gene’s request for cremation was honored.
