LAWRENCE “L.T.” WILLIAMS, age 62 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life early Friday morning, March 4, 2011 at his home.

He was born Monday, July 12, 1948 at Elkins, WV a son of the late Teddy Odbert Williams and Mary M. Stankus Williams. On July 4, 1991 he was married to the former Janise A. Tate who survives. Also surviving are one brother; William J. “Billy” Williams, Elkins; six aunts, Daisy Currence; Violet Hodges; Susan Rheinhart and husband Gerald; Alice Marie McGee and husband Paul; Mary Jane Williams; and Lucy Stankus; three uncles, Anthony “June” Stankus and wife Alice; William “Bill” Stankus and wife Gerry; and Cleston Zirkle.

He attended the schools of Cassity and Coalton and was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1966. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict having served with the U S. Marines Corps. He was a painter and a noted wallpaper hanger having worked for Bill Logan Inc. of Elkins. He was a member of the H. W. Daniel’s Post # 29, American Legion and the Tygart’s Valley Post # 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid fisherman.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Sunday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Monday, March 7, 2011 at 1 PM. The Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs, VF and Sister Mary Ella Morrison will officiate and interment will follow at the Zirkle Cemetery at Cassity, WV, where the H. W. Daniel’s Post # 29, American Legion and the Tygart’s Valley Post # 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct full military rites. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Hospice Care Corporation, 169 Diamond Street, Elkins, WV or to the Charity of your choice.
