Lee Hyer Sutton, 92, of Richwood, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, in Richwood Area Community Hospital in Richwood, after a short illness.

He was an elder of Richwood Christian Church. He was affiliated with various local civic organizations. He was the founding president of Richwood AARP Chapter, past Nicholas County magistrate and past executive secretary of Richwood Chamber of Commerce and past mayor of Richwood.

He was president of Five To Ten Year Long Range Planning Council for Richwood and co-chairman of South Fork of Cherry River Dam Project. He was a retired self-employed electrical contractor and chief electrician for Cherry River Boom and Lumber Co. in Richwood with 27 years of service. He was a Head Start volunteer in Richwood and volunteer of RSVP.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Dean and husband, John, Decatur, Ala., and Patricia Swecker and husband, Woody, Dailey; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Sutton; and a daughter, Dorothea Morris.

Friends may call today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Simons-coleman Funeral Home in Richwood. Funeral services will be at Richwood Christian Church in Richwood Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Eugene Losch officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park in Richwood. Arrangements by Simons-coleman Funeral Home in Richwood.
