Leon Cecil Healey, 76, a resident of the Hazelwood Community, passed from this life Sunday afternoon, October 7, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. Leon was born Sunday, March 1, 1936 in Jacksonville, FL a son of the late Vincent Wilbur Healey and Sophia Tessie Flubarger Healey. On March 25, 2000 in Montrose, he was married to the former Ruby Alice Isenhart, who survives. Leon attended the schools of West Virginia, had served with the United States Army, and had worked as a machinist with United Steel in Ohio. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching TV including, Gunsmoke and the news, and enjoyed learning about history, but his grandchildren were the love of his life. Others left to cherish Leon’s memory are three children, James M. Phillips of Fairmont, Ada M. Greene and B. Gail Gonzalez, both of Elkins, two siblings, Wilbur Vincent Healey and Annabelle Tompson, both of Elkins, nine grandchildren, Adam T. Everson of Belington, Ashley C. Greene of Staunton, VA, Timothy I. Greene of Mabie, Cody W. Greene and Skyler, R. Greene, both of Elkins, Hal S. Phillips and Jayme A. Phillips, both of Fairmont, Anthony G. Gonzalez and Michael “Mikey” Gonzalez, both of Elkins, three great grandchildren, Noah J. Everson, Dominic B. Lucas, and Aluana D. Greene, several nieces, nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and several great great nieces and nephews. Preceding Leon in death was a daughter, Georgia A. Phillips, a brother, Sterling Healey, and two nephews, Vincey Healey and Jason Healey. Leon’s request for cremation was honored. A memorial service for all of his family and friends will be held at a later date.
