Leon “Dick” Ivan Ball, 87, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2003, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland, Md.

Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bethel Church in Horse Shoe Run, with the Rev. Michael Ludle officiating. Interment will follow in Texas Cemetery.

Leon “Dick” Ivan Ball, 87, of Aurora, died April 26, 2003 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland, MD.

He was born Feburary 24, 1916 in Horse Shoe Run, a son of the late Okey Johnson and Edna Mae Evans Ball.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Genevive White Ball of Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas; a son Bernard (and Caroline) Ball of Horse Shoe Run; two daughters Bernadette (and Tom) Lipscomb of Charles Town, Byrldene (and Richard) White of Marion, OH; a brother Robert Ball of New York; two sisters Leona Ball of Reedsville and Elda Fike of Oakland, MD; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren and four step great-grandchilren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.

Mr. Ball worked with the CCC Camps in Whitehall, MT from 1936-1938. he worked as a farmer, worked as a coal miner and as an owner / operator of a service station. He was a life long member of the Bethel Church of Horse Shoe Run.

Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis where funeral services were held at the Bethel Church of Horse Shoe Run, with the Rev. Michael Ludle officiating.

Interment followed in the Texas Cemetery.
