Mrs. Leona Florence Ware Proudfoot, 90, a resident of Barbour County Good Samaritan Society in Belington, departed this life at 4:45 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, in the care facility.

She was born Feb. 26, 1923, at Junior, a daughter of the late Omar and Dicie Browning Proudfoot.

She was formerly married to Junior Proudfoot, who proceeded in her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Richard L. Proudfoot and Thomas A. Proudfoot, both of Belington; one brother, Clovis Ware of Cleveland, Ohio; and one sister, Jeanie Snyder of Junior.

In addition to her former husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Norma Westfall; and one infant brother, Nelson Ware.

Mrs. Proudfoot was a 1944 graduate of Belington High School and was a teller for Belington Bank for 30 years, from which she retired. She was a loving mother, homemaker and a member of Westside United Methodist Church.

Friends will be received from Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 27, and again from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Judy Flynn officiating. Interment will follow in Talbott Cemetery near Belington.
