Leona Riggleman Aunt Onie Nine 1910-2002

Leona “Aunt Onie” Riggleman Nine, 92, a former resident of 35 High St., Elkins, and more recently a resident of Nella’s Nursing Home, departed this life Wednesday morning, Nov. 20, 2002, at the nursing home. She had been in declining health.

She was born on Thursday, Feb. 3, 1910, at Davis, a daughter of the late Isaac Clarence Riggleman, and Lela Propst Riggleman Dibert.

On Dec. 25, 1931, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Roy Lee Nine, who preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1986.

Surviving are one brother, Clyde Riggleman, Elkins; and one sister, Elva Rogers, Mocksville, N.C.; two nieces, three nephews, and several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Victor Riggleman, who preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2000.

She attended the Davis High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Elkins-randolph County Senior Center, the Ladies of the Elks and was member of the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church of Elkins.

Friends will be received today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Rev. Doctor Daniel Bryan will officiate and interment will follow at the Elkins Memorial Gardens (formerly the I.O.O.F. Cemetery) at Elkins.
