Leota Mearl Thomas Carrico, 97, a resident of Parsons, departed this life Saturday afternoon, May 3, 2003, at the Tucker Community Care Center at Parsons.

She was born Feb. 4, 1906, at Location, St. George, the daughter of the late Edward James Thomas and Rachel Dona Bohon.

In May 1926 at St. George, she was married to Ernest Carrico, who preceded her in death on July 20, 1981.

Surviving are one son, Calvin C. Carrico and wife, Betty, Michigan; five daughters, Opal Gertrude Bishop, Parsons, Dona Gladys Shoemaker and husband, H. Glenn, of Virginia, Ollie P. Bible and husband, Carl, Hazel Pauline Karl and husband, Stanley, Betty Jean Clelland and husband, Albert, all of Michigan; 19 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett and Howard Thomas; one infant sister and one infant granddaughter, Arlene.

She attended the Mt. Olive School at Location, St. George, and was a homemaker.

The family will receive friends at the Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Wednesday at 1 p.m.

The Rev. Eugene Nestor and the Rev. Carol Nestor will officiate and interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery at Location, St. George.

The Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Leota Mearl Thomas Carrico.
