She returned to Elkins in 1942 where she was employed by the A&P Tea Co. for 37 1/2 years. She worked as bookkeeper, head cashier and assistant manager until her retirement in 1985.

She willingly gave herself to the community and was involved in Cancer Care Corps, Davis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Davis & Elkins College Aid and GFWC Woman’s Club of Elkins. A longstanding member of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church, she belonged to the Lacy Bible Class, Women of the Church and Circle One, where she worked tirelessly, even when she was unable to attend regularly.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church Circle One.
