Leota Virginia Clayton Ware 1906-2002 Obituary
Leota Virginia Clayton Ware, 96, a former resident of 425 1/2 Davis Ave., Elkins, and more recently a resident of 125 Riverview Drive, Elkins, where she made her home with her son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Susie Ware, departed this life Sunday evening, Oct. 6, 2002, at her home. She had been in declining health for the past eight months.
She was born Sept. 26, 1906, at Junior, a daughter of the late John Clayton and Lucretia Edmonds Clayton.
On Dec. 4, 1924, at Junior, she was married to Orvey Roy Ware, who preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1964.
Surviving are one son, Lewis N. Ware and wife, Susie, Elkins; two grandchildren, David Ware and wife, Barbara, Fairmont, and Melody Ware Wileman and husband, Gary, Elkins; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Logan White and Lynnlee Wileman.
She was preceded in death by one son, Roy Paul Ware; two daughters, Joy Ware and Betty J. Ware; and two sisters, Eula Allen and Mable Clayton.
She attended the schools of Junior. She had formerly worked as an aid at the Memorial General Hospital, was a custodian, having worked at the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a member of the H.W. Daniels Unit 29, American Legion Auxiliary, the Tygarts Valley Post 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the Aerie 2344, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, the Elkins-randolph County Senior Center and a former member of World War I Ladies Auxiliary and was a Methodist.
Friends will be received at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 11 a.m.
The Rev. Bryan M. Headley will officiate and interment will follow at Trinity Cemetery near Junior.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Elkins – Randolph County Public Library, 416 Davis Ave., Elkins, W.Va. 26241.
