Lila Grace Waid 1941-2002 Obituary

Lila Grace Waid, 60, of Hambleton, died Friday morning, Feb. 8, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Death was attributed to heart failure.

Mrs. Waid was born July 10, 1941, in Parsons, a daughter of Keitha James Ankrom, who survives in Hambleton, and the late Delbert “Red” Ankrom and the late Ray Orndoff Sr.

On May 22, 1965, in Parsons, she married Nelson Dale Waid, who survives. They had celebrated 36 years of marriage.

Also surviving are a daughter, Andrea Lynn Roberts and husband, Vincent, Parsons; four brothers, Ellis “Duke” Humphrey and wife, Rose Ann, Parsons, Ray Orndoff Jr., Steve Orndoff and Greg Orndoff, all of Hagerstown, Md.; two sisters, Linda Mae Scott and husband, Steve, Hambleton, and Barbara Orndoff, Hagerstown, Md.; and a grandson, Travis David Roberts, a student at West Virginia Wesleyan College, Buckhannon.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ellis Humphrey Sr.; and a sister, Debbie Orndoff.

Mrs. Waid attended the Hamrick School and was a 1961 graduate of Parsons High School. She was a teller for Riggs National Bank of Washington, D.C., and the National Bank of Washington, D.C.

She was former office manager for the town of Hambleton. She was former police judge for the town of Hendricks and a former employee of the Tucker County Senior Center.

She attended Hambleton United Methodist Church and was a member of the women’s society. She also attended the Pentecostal Church in Rosendorf.

Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home today from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home parlor Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Glessner officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Holly Meadows.
