OBITUARY: LINDA LOU (SHAFFER) STEWART Linda Lou (Shaffer) Stewart, 60, of Rt. 3, Elkins went to meet her Lord and Savior, on Thursday evening, May 20, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, following an extended illness. She was born September 22, 1949, at Philippi, a daughter of the late Eva L. (Jones) Shaffer Baldwin and Troy L. Shaffer, of Orlando, Fla. Surviving are her “greatest accomplishment in life”, her“oldest, middle and youngest” daughter, Bridget Nicholson, Richmond, Va.; one sister, Jill Shaffer Martin and husband, David, Buckhannon; her “Little Brother” David Shaffer and wife Trish, Belington and her “Baby Brother” Scott Baldwin and wife, Michele, Philippi and nieces and nephews, Robin Stuart, Jason Martin, Cassie Hymes, Tyler Baldwin, Nathan Baldwin and Carleigh Baldwin, grandniece, Rachel Stuart, grandnephews, Bailey and Clay Stuart. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, Carl Baldwin and by an infant niece, Rochelle Fridley. Ms. Stewart was a 1967 graduate of Philip Barbour High School. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and had worked in the Myers Clinic and the Broaddus Hospital in Philippi, the Memorial General Hospital in Elkins and in the office of Dr. Plautz in Elkins. She was also a former employee of the Pantry Store, Poling’s Store and Wheeler’s Sporting Goods. She was a former member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Garden Club. She was a member of the Light of Christ Chapel in Belington and the New Life Fellowship Church in Elkins. She enjoyed sewing, flower and vegetable gardening and canning the rewards of her labor. She also enjoyed arranging flowers and was an avid supporter of the any activity involving her family, such as school and sports related events. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 26, from the Schoonover – Stemple Funeral Chapel, 609 Crim Avenue, Belington, with the Rev. Jimmie Tallman officiating. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to attend a fellowship gathering at the Light of Christ Chapel Fellowship Hall. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday and from 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., the funeral hour, on Wednesday. The Schoonover – Stemple Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
