Lois Jean Skidmore 1936-2021 Obituary
Lois Jean Skidmore, age 85 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021 in the Davis Medical Center. She was born September 24, 1936 at Parkersburg, WV, a daughter of the late Walter T. DeQuasie and Thelma G. Swezy DeQuasie. On July 31, 1976, she was married to Joe Edward Skidmore who passed away November 15, 2021. Mrs. Skidmore is survived by her son, Robert Michael “ Mike” Kerns and his wife Ruth of Elkins and her sister, Patricia Riffle of Lexington, KY. Also surviving are three grandsons, Tyler, Isaac and Alexander Kerns, all residents of Idaho. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive. Also preceding her in death was one brother, Thomas DeQuasie. Mrs. Skidmore was a graduate of Parkersburg High School. She worked most of her adult life as an interior Designer. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkins and a member of Ladies Circle Number 5 of the Church. She was also a former member of the Elkins Women’s Club.
Mrs. Skidmore’s request for cremation will be honored and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The family request flowers are omitted and memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, 315 Kerens Ave., Elkins, WV 26241 in her memory. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Lois Jean Skidmore.
