Lorene Yokum, 68, a resident of Huttonsville, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, at 6:50 p.m., in Davis Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since Monday. She had been in failing health for the past two months.

She was born Nov. 14, 1934, in Philippi, a daughter of the late Russell “Peg” and Elva Shaffer Shaham

On Sept. 16, 1988, she was united in marriage to George Yokum, who survives in Huttonsville.

Also surviving are two daughters, Juanita Isenhart and husband, David, of Huttonsville, and Connie Yokum of St. Albans; four grandchildren, Lorene Renee Martin of Virginia Beach, Va., Donnie George Mullenex of Whitmer, Joshua Mullenex of Huttonsville, and Brenna Yokum of St. Albans; and one sister, Sylvia Haden of Mill Creek; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her parents were two sisters, Elyonda Streets and Geraldine Harvey; and two brothers, Aldean Shahan and Dearise Lee Shahan.

She was an in-home caretaker for the past 16 years for Judy Taylor and a member of the Light of the Valley Church in Mill Creek.

Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Friday after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Norma Gibson, pastor of the Light of the Valley Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Brick Church Cemetery. The F.E. Runner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Lorene Yokum.
