LORING C. JONES Loring Charles Jones, 91, of Pipestem, formerly of Philippi, died Sunday, March 24, 2013, at the home of a son, at Pipestem. He was born March 28, 1921, in Barbour County, a son of the late Charles M. and Ollie (Findley) Jones. On March 21, 1942, he married the former Mabel Cecilia Harper, who survives at Pipestem. Also surviving are two sons, David L. Jones and wife, Becky, Pipestem, Larry A. Jones and wife Terri, Buckhannon, two grandsons, Matthew Jones, Buckhannon and Charles C. Jones and wife Angela, Princeton; one brother, Elson Jones and Sandra, Fairmont and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a son, Charles David Jones and by one sister, Loverine Chittester. Mr. Jones was an inactive member of the Philippi Baptist Church. During World War II, he flew as an armorer gunner on a B – 17 Bomber with the 385th Bomb Group, 8th Army Air Forces, in England. Mr. Jones retired from the insurance business in 1975 and returned to Barbour County. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, March 29th, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 South Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. Joseph Carl Delauder (a cousin) will officiate and interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens, U.S. 219 North of Elkins. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M., the funeral hour on Friday. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
