Louie G. Gassnola 1930-2002 Obituary

Louie G. Gassnola, 72, a former resident of Montrose and a patient in Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas since October 2000, passed away at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, June 9, 2002, in the nursing home.

He was born April 2, 1930, in Elkins, a son of the late Antonio and Catherine Monda Gassnola.

On Feb. 23, 1957, he was married to Leah Jean Gassnola, who preceded him in death on May 14, 2000.

He is survived by three sons, Louie G. “Bud” Gassnola and wife, Kathy, and Darrell Shayne Gassnola and wife, Pam, all of Elkins, Jeffrey Craig Gassnola and wife, Kelly, of Belington; two daughters, Mrs. Alan (Sue) Ketchem of Elkview, and Rita Lynn Gassnola of Elkins; one brother, Joe Gassnola of Belington; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Ralph, Tony and Fred; and two sisters, Grace and Rose.

Mr. Gassnola was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed as a molder for Kelly Foundry for many years and was a Catholic by faith.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Father Lino Ebjer officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. State Memorial Gardens, where full military rites will be accorded at the gravesite. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Michael’s Room, in care of Cortland Acres Nursing Home, HC 60, Box 98, Thomas, W.Va. 26292.
