OBITUARY: LOUIE WILLIAM KELLER Louie William “Bill” Keller, 72, of Sunshine Ridge Road, Philippi, died Tuesday evening, August 28, in the United Hospital Center, following an extended battle with cancer and diabetes. He was born September 24, 1939, at Philippi, the son of the late Maude Ellen Keller. Surviving are one son, William Marshall Keller and wife, Shelly, Hampton, Va.; one granddaughter, Lindsay Renee Keller, Hampton; one brother, Richard Keller and wife, Deborah, Garrett, Penn.; and fifteen nieces and nephews including Tom Keller and wife, Wendy, Seville, Ga. He was preceded in death by his sister, Arlene Eagan and by step-fathers, Craig Simpson and Paul Kent. Bill was well known as the former manager of Bob’s Brunswick Billiards in Philippi. He had also worked as a school bus driver and as a truck driver for the Barbour County Division of the West Virginia Department of Highways. He had also been associated with the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home and Stemple Funeral Chapel (later Schoonover – Stemple Funeral Chapel). His association began in 1960’s, under the tenure of John M. Stemple when he served as an ambulance driver and attendant and funeral attendant and resumed under the tenure of Gary Schoonover as a funeral attendant. He was a member of the Cross Roads United Methodist Church where he was a member of the choir, the Junior Lions Club, the Kasson Ruritan and the Sons of the American Legion at Somerset, Penn. He was an active member of the Tacy Community Improvement Association and a director emeritus of the Barbour County Fair Association. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 1, 2012 from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 South Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. William Smith and Pastor Downing Gregory will officiate and interment will follow in the Cross Roads Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Friday and from 9:00 until 11:00 A.M., the funeral hour, on Saturday. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
