Louise Williamson, a lifetime resident of Route 4, 4-h community, Philippi, succumbed at 3:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at her residence, of a short illness while under the care of Mountain Hospice.

She was born in Barbour County, a daughter of the late Guy Albert and Bessie Dove Upton Williamson.

Surviving are one aunt, Neva Upton Hershman, Route 2, Philippi; close friends and caregivers during his latter years: Reta Upton Burner and husband, Mike, Route 2, Belington; and many cousins and friends.

She was a 1937 graduate of Philippi High School and attended Alderson-broaddus College for two years. She began a teaching career in 1942. She taught for 43 years in Barbour County Schools, 17 years of which she served as principal and teacher combined. She taught 21 years at Silent Grove Normal School, Corley School, one year at Mt. Vernon and 13 years at Union.

She was a 60-year member of Dorcas Rebekah Lodge 275.

Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, after noon today. Dorcas Rebekah Lodge 275 will conduct memorial services at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. The eulogy will be given by Robert “Buck” True.

Interment will follow in the Silent Grove Cemetery.
