Lucille Gladys Welch Hamrick, age 88 years, a resident of Beverly, WV, departed this life Thursday morning, October 7, 2021, at Stonerise Kingwood Nursing Home at Kingwood, WV.
She was born Sunday, December 4, 1932, at Valley Head, WV, a daughter of the late Carroll Ulridge and Alma Ann Vandevender Welch. On December 6, 1951, at Valley Head, WV, she was married to James Edgar “Bud” Hamrick, who preceded her in death June 8, 2009.
Surviving are two daughters, Louise Lynn Arbogast of Philippi, Evelyn Joyce Howell and husband Victor of Beverly; one brother, Roger Welch of Valley Head; five grandchildren, James, Donald, Amanda, Jacob, and Homer; five great grandchildren, Nichole, Holly, Donald Jr., Abigail, and Dalton; and one great-great grandson, Hudson Sanders.
Preceding her in death are one brother, Arden Welch; two sisters, Arlene Overfield and Frances Ables; one granddaughter, Sherry Sue Arbogast; and one son-in-law, Donald Arbogast.
Lucille attended the one-room Sunrise School near Brady Gate. She had worked at Reidboard and Beta Shoe Factory. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing and canning. She loved spoiling her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister, who will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 PM to 6 PM, Monday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 10 AM. Pastor Leon Brown will officiate and interment will follow at the Valley Head Cemetery at Valley Head, WV.
