Lucille S. Zinn, 89, of 29 Central Ave., Buckhannon, died Monday, June 16, 2003, in Sun Bridge for Salem at Salem.

She was born Jan. 28, 1914, in Evenwood, Randolph County, a daughter of the late Ode C. and Grace McLaughlin Smith.

She married Harry J. Zinn, who preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1972.

Surviving are one son, Neal Zinn, Buckhannon; one grandson, Jeff Zinn and wife, Jennifer, Baltimore, Md.; and two granddaughters, Jennifer Dunivan and Jody Zinn, both of Lorton, Va.

She was an elementary school teacher. She was a graduate of Huntington High School and a graduate of Davis & Elkins College with a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education.

As a former elementary teacher in Randolph County, she was for years active in her professional organization of teachers, having served as president of the Randolph County Teachers Organization, and served on several county and state committees. She also served as president of the Randolph County Parent-Teacher Organization and for six years served on the state board of directors of the West Virginia Parent-Teacher Organization as secretary and as a state chairman. She attended the First United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women.

Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon, the funeral hour. Interment will follow in East Oak Grove Cemetery in Morgantown.
