Lucille Schoonover Malone Lucille Schoonover Malone, 94, of Philippi, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, after suffering a stroke on Monday, Jan. 10. She was born July 23, 1916, in Glady, Randolph County, a daughter of the late Clay and Willa (Anglin) Schoonover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carney B. Malone in 1973 and by two sisters, Rita McDaniel and Etta Kathern Digman. She is survived by her brother, Eugene C. Schoonover of Belington; two sons, Curtis W. Malone and wife Jeanette of Annandale, Va., and Jeffrey A. Malone and wife Judy of Hedgesville, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Diana Tinsley and husband Dean, Karen Amico and husband Brad, Brian Malone and wife Amy, Susan Joyner and husband Bob, and Valorie Dillman and husband Kaese; ten great grandchildren, Nicole Tinsley – Zdan and husband, Jason, Benjamin Tinsley, Curtis Marco Amico, Sean Bradley Amico, Nicholas Alfonso Amico, Hana Jean Malone, Marne Malone, Katelyn Joyner, Seth Joyner and Michael Dillman; two great great grandchildren, Aydin and Dominic Zdan; and by numerous nieces and nephews who have offered loving care and support for many years. Mrs. Malone was a lifelong resident of Philippi and a 1933 graduate of Philippi High School. She was a retired LPN, having worked for her entire career in the newborn nursery of the Myers Clinic and the Broaddus Hospital. An active member of the Crim Memorial UM Church for the past 82 years, she loved to cook and helped cook for many church functions. Always anxious to share time with her friends, she was an enthusiastic member of the Silent Grove C.E.O.S. and always enjoyed attending their meetings and dinners. She happily attended the monthly luncheon meetings of the local Cancer Survivors Group. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 So. Main Street, Philippi. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 19, with the Rev. Tim Bleigh officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. The Stemple & Forman Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
