Lucretia Goldie Schoonover, 100, a former resident of Chenoweth Creek and a patient in the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center for the past one and one half years, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, in the Convalescent Center. She had made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Nellie and Richard Doerr, prior to entering the nursing home.

She was born Jan. 24, 1902, at Bowden, a daughter of the late Nimrod and Mary Alice Stalnaker Taylor.

On Nov. 17, 1923, she was married to Oliver Schoonover, who preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1991.

She is survived by two sons, Junior Schoonover and Homer Schoonover, both of Elkins; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Retha) Bazzle of Wooster, Ohio, and Mrs. Richard (Nellie) Doerr of Elkins; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by four sons, James, Freddie, Ivan and Eugene Schoonover; five brothers, Raymond, Glenn, Edward, Wilson and Roy Taylor; and four sisters, Maude Taylor, Iva Taylor, Blanche Arbogast and Hazel Scott.

Mrs. Schoonover was a homemaker and attended Hart Chapel Church at Chenoweth Creek.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Chenoweth Cemetery. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Lucretia Goldie Schoonover.
