LuEsta Bright, 102, of Fairmont, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at the Chandler House in Fairmont. She was born April 8, 1899, on Pheasant’s Run in Tucker County, the daughter of the late Lyda Grant Canfield and Mary Catherine Wilmoth Canfield. She was a homemaker and mother. She was a former member of Christ United Methodist church and a current member of Irons Chapel United Methodist Church in Parsons.

Mrs. Bright was blessed with excellent health through most of her 102 years. She was able to live in her own home and raised a beautiful garden until 1989 when she moved to The Chandler House. She was an avid reader and loved flowers. She also enjoyed writing letters to friends and family. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gretsel and Nell Bright of Godfrey, IL; a daughter and son-in-law, Lucille and Walter Adams of Scottsdale, AZ.; a granddaughter, Cathi Jenkins and husband Alvin of Grant Town; three great-grandsons, John Jenkins of Ohio, Adam Jenkins, attending Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, and Justin Jenkins of Grant Town.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bright was preceded in death by her husband, Chauncey Merle Bright who she married April 7, 1920; five brothers, Clark, Albert, Wilson, Raymond and Frank Canfield; and one sister, Bessie Piggott.

Friends were received at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, Fairmont, where services were held Oct. 29 with Frank Spevock officiating. Burial followed at Woodlawn Cemetery in Fairmont.
