Lyda Faye Dumire 1927-2002 Obituary

Lyda Faye Dumire, 75, of 212 Chestnut St., Philippi, formerly of Valley Furnace Community, died Sunday evening, Sept. 22, 2002, in Broaddus Hospital Long Term Care Facility, following an extended illness.

She was born June 16, 1927, in Brushy Fork Community, Tucker County, a daughter of the late Clarence James and Sarah Catherine Poling Auvil.

On April 5, 1947, she was married to Clyde Dale Dumire, who preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1987.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Connie Charlene and Stephen Harshberger, Mt. Morris Community; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Edward Dale and Barbara Dumire, Shenandoah, Va., Fred Len and Brenda Dumire, Kasson, Ted Glenn Dumire, Fredericksburg, Va., and Randall Lee and Renee Dumire, Taneytown, Md.; two brothers, John Auvil, Elkins, and Noble Auvil, St. George; four sisters, Nellie Auvil, St. George, Goldie Wilson, Sylvia Boyle and Caroline Poling, all of Philippi; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Laura Poling, Elnora Poling and Pearl Wratchford; and four brothers, Walter Auvil, Junior Ray Auvil, Wayne Auvil and Robert Lee Auvil.

Mrs. Dumire was a homemaker and was an avid gardener. She was a member of the Brushy Fork United Brethren Church.

Friends will be received at Stemple & Forman Funeral Home in Philippi from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kenny Kendall officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Castle Cemetery.
