MARY CATHERINE FUHRMAN DAHMER, age 87 years, a resident of Elkins and for the past several years, a resident of Nellas Nursing Home, departed this life early Wednesday morning, November 18, 2009 at Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown.

She was born Tuesday, September 19, 1922 at Cass, a daughter of the late Charles Edward Fuhrman and Ruth Wilson Jackson Fuhrman. Surviving her is one son; Charles Butch Dahmer and wife, Judy, North Madison, OH, one daughter; Ruth Morral and husband, Bob, Kerens, one brother; Robert Fuhrman and wife, Charlene, formerly of Elkins, one sister; Nina Mae Poland, Elkins, five grandchildren; Timothy Dahmer, Cathy Morral Mudge and husband, Robert, Sherry Dahmer Harris and husband, Jeff, Troy Dahmer, and Jessica Morral Gibson and husband, Matt, four great grandchildren; Olivia and Evan Harris and Samantha and David Mudge, a special friend, Patty Jo Hamilton, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were twin brothers; Charles Edward and William Jackson Fuhrman, five sisters; Mildred Wilson, Marjorie Riffle, Helen Fuhrman, Anna Sue Beck, and Doris Ruth Isner, and one grandson; Bradley Morral.

Ms. Dahmer attended the schools of Pocahontas County and was a graduate of Greenbank High School with the class of 1942. She had worked for many years as a desk clerk for the Tygart Hotel, and was a member of the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church for sixty-one years where she thoroughly enjoyed singing in the Woodford Choir and cantatas, being actively involved in the Sunday School classes, and holding various offices in the Womens Circle of the Church. She loved the Christmas hymn, Joy to the World and thought it should be sung year-round. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking for family and friends. She lived her life witnessing for Christ while spreading her joy and humor to everyone around her.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 6 until 8 PM, Friday. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 12:30 PM. The Reverend Doctor William E. Calhoun will officiate and interment will follow at Arbovale Cemetery at Arbovale
