MADELINE WEIFORD LINN PHILLIPS, age 86 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Friday morning, February 5, 2010 at the home of her son and daughter in law, Thomas and Vicki Linn of Elkins following a brief illness.

She was born Friday, July 13, 1923 at Elkins, WV a daughter of the late Blake Weiford and Viola Ella “Olie” Fansler Weiford. She was twice married. First, on April 6, 1945 at Elkins, WV she was married to Thad William Linn, who preceded her in death April 30, 1975. Second to Robert Goff “Bob” Phillips, who preceded her in death December 23, 2003.

Surviving are one son, Thomas C. Linn and wife Vicki, Elkins; one daughter, Talma C. Wilkinson and husband Charles, Painesville, OH; five grandchildren, Aaron Linn and wife Vicky, Marty Linn, Mandi Foster, and Michael Foster, all of Elkins; Dustin Charles Wilkinson, Painesville, OH; five precious great grandchildren, Jacob, Hailee and Trevor Linn, Madeline Ann Linn and Nia Janae Palmer and several nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in death are two brothers, Pete and Oliver Blake Weiford; four sisters, Annette White, Kate Poling, Anna Jane Mosser-mahon and Gwen “Cookie” Kepner; and one grandson, Trooper Brian William Linn.

Madeline attended the schools of Randolph County, had worked as a cashier at Harrold’s Key Market for several years, was a member of the Crystal Springs Community Church and the Crystal Springs Sewing Circle. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, gardening, painting, crafts and sewing. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was always looking forward to family get-togethers. We will miss her always but, know the Heaven’s are brighter by one more star.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 to 7 PM, Monday.

Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 1 PM. The Rev. David M. Collins and the Rev. Dewaine A. Corley will officiate and interment will follow at the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery at Cravensdale, WV.
