Margaret Gum Fancher, 82, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away at her home on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003.

She was born at Cass on Nov. 20, 1920, the daughter of the late Crawford and Sadie Gum.

She graduated from Greenbank High School and the Duke University School of Nursing and served as a flight nurse in World War II and the Korean War.

On Feb. 20, 1949, she married Sgt. Richard Fancher, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are four children, Col. James Fancher of San Antonio, Texas, Richard Fancher of Corpus Christi, Texas, Suzanne Willner of Plano, Texas, and Melinda Fancher of Washington, D.C. One son, Stephen Fancher, is deceased.

Also surviving are two sisters, Martha G. Craft of Elkins and Virginia McCauley of Mountain Lake Park, Md.

Funeral services were held at Baptist Temple of San Antonio and Fort Sam Houston Cemetery.
