Margaret Lou “Peg” Fickle Haher, 86, a resident of Beverly, passed from this life Tuesday morning, November 26, 2013 at the home of her daughter, Kim, surrounded by her family. Peg was born Thursday, January 20, 1927 in Colfax, IN, the only child of the late Morris L. Fickle and Margaret Ethel Dukes Fickle. She grew up in Mulberry, IN until she left for Indiana University and later transferred to Purdue University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Bacteriology on June 19, 1949. On June, 20, 1949 in Lafayette, IN, she married her loving husband of sixty-four years, John James “Jack” Haher, who survives in Beverly. Others left to cherish Peg’s memory are her three daughters, Kathleen Hamrick of Charleston, Kimberlee Haher and husband Larry Kimble of Elkins, Jan Johnson and husband Stanley of Charleston, her five grandchildren, Jess Hamrick, Tyler Nestor, Tate Summerfield and husband, Ryan, Wesley Tuel and wife, Jessica, and Alex Tuel and wife, Laura, and her great grandchildren, Hannah Summerfield, Olivia Tuel, Dylan Tuel, and Hudson Tuel. Margaret is preceded in death by grandson Jack Nestor. Life for Margaret was always an adventure and she embraced her role of a wife and mother with true passion and aplomb. Margaret and Jack lived in 5 states, and more than a dozen cities. Margaret made a home out of 20 different houses with love and style. Margaret and Jack traveled the world together including visits to all fifty states. Margaret had an extreme passion for bridge, reading, bowling, and puzzling. She was an accomplished golfer and made Jack look great every time they took a dance floor. She loved and took great pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren and in her ability to remember their birthdays. Margaret was a loyal and true friend to many and will always be remembered for her intelligence, beauty and grace. She was a member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church. Funeral services for Peg will be held at the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 1PM. Rev. Kevin Starcher will officiate. Peg’s request for cremation will then be honored and inurnment will follow at a later date at Maplewood Cemetery. The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements for Margaret Lou “Peg” Fickle Haher.
