Margaret Louise Flaker, 82, of Buckhannon, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday.

She was born Sept. 29, 1938, in Weston, a daughter of the late Harley Ward and Grace Stell Collins.

She is survived by her son, Mark Flaker, of Buckhannon.

Mrs. Flaker was a devout Christian and attended The Way of Holiness Church in Buckhannon.

She always lived her life in the service of others and family and did not know a stranger.

Mrs. Flaker is now with her loving Savior, Jesus Christ. This is not goodbye, but rather until we meet again.

Friends will be received Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with The Rev. William Kerns officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Park Monday, in Akron, Ohio.

Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Herman R. Burns Sr., 82, of Thomas, died on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at his home.

Born on Jan. 12, 1938, in Douglas, he was the son of the late Ira Glenn and Dora Elizabeth (Losh) Burns.

He worked at Sunrise Sanitation for 25 years.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to explore and tinker with everything.

Horseshoes was one of his favorite pastimes and he never met a stranger.

He leaves behind his wife, Rhoda Burns; children, Herman Ray Burns, Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Thomas, Loye Ira Burns and wife, Bobbie, of Thomas, Rebecca Burns Sharp of Parsons, Brittany Burns Carr and husband, Tyler, of Oakland, Bryan Burns of Oakland and Brandon Burns and wife, Grace, of Oakland; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rebecca Lynn Burns Lipscomb and husband, Gary, of Parsons, and Zetta Jean Sweitzer of Oakland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorthy Virginia Burns; a brother, Loye Ira Burns; and a sister, Regina Louise Fresh.

Friends will be received at the Hinkle-fenner Funeral Home, 567 Thomas Ave, Davis, on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, from 10 to 11 a.m., after which time a funeral service will be held with Fr. Timothy Grassi officiating.

Face masks and social distancing are required and if you or a family member are feeling ill, we ask that you stay home and visit with the family at a later time.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Thomas.
