Margie Christine Chewning, 83, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.

She was born Nov. 3, 1938 at Hemlock, West Virginia, a daughter of the late William W. and Creola Currence Lanham. She was married to Ronald Delano Chewning, who preceded her in death Dec. 11, 2000.

She is survived by three brothers, William “Wink” Lanham of Mt. Clare, West Virginia; Kenneth “Buck” Lanham of Mill Creek and Kencil Lanham of Huttonsville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by one brother, Excell Lanham; and a niece, Christine Wood.

Margie had worked at Reidbord Brothers as a clothing inspector and was also a homemaker. She was a member of the Jerusalem Church where she was a Lay Leader, taught Sunday School and was treasurer of the Women’s Christian Society. She was a former member of the Rebekah’s Lodge. Margie was such a kind and loving person and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at the Jerusalem Church near Mill Creek. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday from the church with Rev. Randy Long officiating. Interment will follow in the Blue Rock Cemetery near Adolph, West Virginia.
