Marie Hile Phillips 1919-2002 Obituary

Marie Hile Phillips, 82, a resident of Spruce Street, Parsons, departed this life in her sleep early Wednesday morning, May 15, 2002, at her home. She had been in her usual health.

She was born June 2, 1919, at Parsons, a daughter of the late Albert Samuel Hile and Nancy Mae Auvil Hile.

On Aug. 20, 1949, she was married to Marvin Kenneth “Tim” Phillips, who survives. They celebrated 52 years of married.

Also surviving are one son, Terry Lynn Hile and wife, Judith, St. George; three daughters, Ronda Sherman, Parsons, Marsha Bishoff and husband, Roger, St. George, and Dawnelle Shehan and husband, Tom, Dale City, Va.; one brother, Allen Hile and wife, Dorothy, Parsons; seven grandchildren, Mark Sherman, Jeremy and Heather Hile, Alicia Bishoff, Tabetha Sturch, Christopher Moats and Austin Shehan; four stepgrandchildren, Tom and Lindsay Shehan, Christopher and Michael Bishoff; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Sherman and Conner Sturch; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Junior Hile; and one grandson, Justin Allen Bishoff.

She was a graduate of Parsons High school with the class of 1937. She attended the Fairmont Business College for three years. She was a former payroll clerk for the United States Postal Service at Washington, D.C., and a former secretary for the Boys Forrest Camp at Davis. She attended the First United Methodist Church at Parsons. She was a homemaker and a member of Tucker County Senior Center of which she was a member of the Goldenaires.

Friends may call at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jesse Keenan and the Rev. David Fuller will officiate and interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows.
