MARILYN COLLEEN BROWN SHAW WALDRON, age 79 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life early Monday morning, October 24, 2011 at her home.

She was born Friday, July 8, 1932 at Elkins, WV a daughter of the late Keith Parsons and Lena Marie Elizabeth Myers Brown. She was twice married. First, to Robert “Artie” Shaw, who survives. Second on June 5, 1981 at Elkins, WV she was married to Hoy Grant Waldron, Sr., who preceded her in death July 5, 1991. Surviving are one son, Gary Alan Shaw and wife Debbie, Jay, FL; five daughters, Beverly Ellen Woods and husband Rod, Harpertown; Nancy Elaine Aldridge; and Cindy Elynn Ulrich, both of Elkins; Robin Colleen Paxton and husband Jay, Morgantown; Linda Susan Almaroad and husband Jerry, Mingo; two step sons, Hoy G. “Butch” Waldron, Jr., and wife Edna, Mabie; Larry Waldron and wife Cindy, Gilman; one step daughter, Sheila Simmons and husband Gary, a special daughter, Vicki Carr, Elkins; two sisters, Barbara Ellen Hart and husband George, Thornton, CO; Sharon Keith Hamilton and husband William, Westminister, CO; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; one step grandson; one step great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are one infant son; one son in law, William Ulrich; one granddaughter, Heather Marie Haupin; one great granddaughter, Marley Haupin and one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Grace Peck Shaw.

She was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1950; and had worked as a nurse’s aide for thirty-four years retiring in 1994, having worked at Nella’s Nursing Home, the former Memorial General Hospital and Davis Memorial Hospital. She loved to crochet, knit and make crafts and had taught craft making to members of the Randolph County Senior Center. She was a member of the Aerie # 2344, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary; the Randolph County Senior Center; the Tygart’s Valley Post # 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, where she had served as Chaplain and attended the Landmark Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Wednesday. On Wednesday, at 7 PM, at the funeral home, the Aerie # 2344, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary will conduct ritualistic services. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 1:30 PM. Pastor Ann Fretwell will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.
