MARJORIE ANN NEWELL HUFF, age 92 years, a former resident of the Auviltown Community, St. George, WV, and for the past five years a resident of Concord, NC departed this life Tuesday morning, May 14, 2013 at Morningside Assisted Living at Concord, NC with her family at her side.

She was born Friday, October 22, 1920 at Mannington, WV, a daughter of the late John Harman and Ethel Gay Heckert Newell. On January 20, 1943, she was married to Ralph Rodney Huff, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, John Rodney Huff of Delta, PA; four daughters, Linda Lou Blades and husband Randall Albert of Spring Hill, FL, Cynthia Gay Phillips of Gulfport, FL, Nancy Sue Kapp and husband John of Concord, NC, and Tish Marguerite Sanchez and husband José of Harrisburg, NC; two sisters, Barbara Joan Hovatter of Lewisburg, WV, and Shirley Elizabeth Perry of Erie, PA; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Washington Irving High School. Her most important position in life was her role as a homemaker. In addition to raising her family, she was employed in varied positions throughout the years and served as a volunteer in school, civic and religious organizations. She was an avid reader and she was known for her love of animals, her sense of humor, and her many acts of kindness. In honor of her husband’s twenty six years of service in the United States Navy, a private graveside service will be held at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown. Pastor James E. “Eddie” Martin will officiate and interment will follow. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the charity of your choice.
