Mrs. Marjorie F. Swisher, 99 yrs. of age, a resident of Buckhannon, WV passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 at her residence. She was born October 24, 1913, at Mount Clare, a daughter of the late Henry and Dora Morris Bassel. June 20, 1940, she married James H. Swisher who passed away April 19, 1979. She is survived by two sons, Larry (Carol) Swisher of Buckhannon and Kent Swisher of Ripley, OH; four grandchildren, Mrs. Scott (Elaine) Jenkins of Washington, WV, Jim Swisher and wife Lisa of Cincinnati, OH Dr. Tammy Hilbert of Raleigh, NC., and David Swisher and wife Jessica of Wilmington, OH; four great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Brenden of Washington, WV and Alexandria and Audrey of Raleigh. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Wilma Bassel and one brother-in-law, William Swisher both of Buckhannon. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her family. She was preceded in death by an infant son, David. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jerry Nutter and Jean Loofboro and four brothers, Jim, Richard, Dana and John Bassel. She was a graduate of Lost Creek High School and attended Salem College. She was a retired school teacher in Harrison County and a member of the Retired Teachers Association and a Past President of the Lost Creek Woman’s Club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Buckhannon, a member of the Buckhannon Woman’s Club, the Buckhannon Welcome Club and two bridge clubs. She enjoyed being with her family and looked forward to playing bridge with her many friends. Friends will be received Tuesday, July 23, 2013 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steven Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Jane Lew, WV.
