MARY ANN PIZZOFERRATO BUTCH, age 98 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Friday morning, May 20, 2011 at her home.

She was born Sunday, April 20, 1913 at Coalton, WV a daughter of the late Nicola and Rosa Antonia Polce Pizzoferrato. On July 25, 1936 at Coalton, WV she was married to Gus C. Butch, who preceded her in death September 9, 1998. They had celebrated sixty-two years of marriage. Surviving are two sons, James N. Butch and wife Frances, Charleston; David L. Buccini and wife Judy, Cranberry Township, PA; one daughter, Christina Sanders and husband Charles, Elkins; one sister, Elaine P. Ware, Elkins; seven grandchildren, Maria Frank, Jamie Nichole Frampton, Natalie Swartz; Brianna and Mario Buccini and Lee Sanders; nine great grandchildren, Vincent, Alexander, Dominic and Isaac Frank, Samuel and Gabriella Frampton, Casey, Alexa and Ryan Sanders and her beloved cat, Joey.

Preceding her in death are five brothers, Orest “Bud”, Anthony “Tony”, Coste, Julio “Peets” and Leeber Pizzoferrato and two sisters, Rita L. Pizzoferrato and Frances DiMario.

She attended the schools of Randolph County, and along with her husband owned and operated Butch’s Store at Harding for many years. She was a former member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church at Coalton and more recently a member of Saint Brendan Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Holy Rosary Guild. She was a member of the Woman’s Club of Elkins, the Davis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and was a noted cook.

The family will receive friends at the Saint Brendan Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 10 AM to 12 Noon at which time the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs, VF will be the presider and interment will follow at the Saint Brendan Cemetery at Elkins, WV. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Saint Brendan Catholic Church, Route # 4, Box 515, Elkins, WV 26241 or to Hospice Care Corporation, 169 Diamond Street, Elkins, WV 26241.
