Mary Blanche went to be with her Lord on August 25th, 2010 at 12:15 AM after a short illness.

She was residing at Sweet Briar Assisted Living in Dunbar, WV. Mary Blanche was the daughter of the late W.O. and Alpha Smith Hinkle of Buckhannon.

She was born on March 23, 1924, preceded in death by her sister Maxine Hinkle Clark of Ashtabula, OH and survived by her sister Charlotte Joan Hinkle of Dunbar, WV.

Mary was married for 55 years to her high school sweetheart, the late Carleton R. Bailey.

Surviving are two sons, Gary and wife Percilla of Eleanor, WV, Phillip and Cynthia of Newton, NJ and a daughter Carol Hoernle and husband Erich of Lafayette, NJ as well as four grandchildren, Aaron, Travis, Ryan and Monica and two great-grandchildren, Turner Bailey of Milton, WV son of Travis and Bonnie Bailey and Jocelyn Bailey of Andover, NJ daughter of Ryan Bailey and Kara Post.

Mary is a member of the First Baptist Church in Buckhannon and for fifteen years prior was a member the First Baptist Church of Bloomingdale, NJ. She was a member of the American Legion Post # 7 Auxiliary of Buckhannon, County Extension Homemakers Club and the Elizabeth Zane Chapter of the WV Daughters of the American Revolution.

Mary was a welder (Rosie Riveter) in the Camden Ship Yards of Baltimore during WWII along with her husband Carleton who later entered the Air Force and flew in B-17’s as a ball turret gunner.

Mary, during her 86 years of life was an active community member and helped in such ways as Den Mother in Cub Scouts.

She was also a Home Room mother at Mound School in Dunbar, WV and PTA mother that helped conduct school fundraisers.

Friends will be received at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home on Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 11 AM until 2 PM the funeral hour with the Rev. Cyril Johnston officiating.

Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon, WV. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Memory of Mary.
