Mary Ellen Moran Canfield, 98, a resident of Elkins and for the last four years, a resident of Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center, passed from this life Monday morning, March 5, 2012 at the nursing home. Mary was born Saturday, May 3, 1913 at Kerens, a daughter of the late Robert Lee Moran and Cora Bell Vanscoy Moran. She is survived by a son, Elmer Richard Canfield and wife, Marion, of Elkins, a daughter, Frances Jeanette Canfield of Charlotte, NC, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Mary attended the schools of Randolph and Tucker County, was a homemaker, and had worked as a nurse’s aide for the Memorial General Hospital for twenty-five years. She enjoyed working puzzles and taking walks around the farm. She had attended the Otterbein United Methodist Church. Mary’s request for cremation was honored.
