Mary Ellen Noonan Daniels 1912-2002 Obituary

Mary Ellen Noonan Daniels, 90, a resident of 1314 South Kerens Ave., Elkins, departed this life at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, following a short illness.

She was born Wednesday, Feb. 21, 1912, at Cumberland, Md., a daughter of the late John William Noonan and Amanda Parrish Noonan McGady.

On Dec. 17, 1930, at Cumberland, Md., she was married to Clyde K. Daniels, who preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1973.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph W. Daniels, Valdosta, Ga., and John K. “Jack” Daniels I and wife, Marlene, Chenoweth Creek Road Community, Elkins; three grandchildren, John K. Daniels II, Elkins, Lisa Newlon and husband, Chris, Elkins, and Kim Chamberlain and husband, Carl, Riverdale, Md.; and three great-grandchildren, John K. “Jack” Daniels III and Jennifer Paige Daniels, both of Elkins, and Misty Nicole Chamberlain, Riverdale, Md.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia Painter and Clydetta Daniels; one brother, one sister and one great-grandson, Michael James McCartney.

Mrs. Daniels was a graduate of the Ursline Academy at Cumberland, Md., and was a homemaker. She was a member of the H.W. Daniel’s United 29, American Legion Auxiliary and the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Circle 2 and a lifetime member of the administrative board.

Friends will be received at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Friday at 11 a.m. Dr. Ellis E. Conley and Pastor Lois Irons Kessler will officiate and interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Elkins.
