Mary Helen Collett Pritt 1939-2002 Obituary

Mary Helen Collett Pritt, 85, a lifelong resident of the Files Creek community, Beverly, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at her home. She had been in failing health for the past several years and critically ill for the past six months.

She was born Aug. 23, 1917, at Beverly, a daughter of the late Henry Lee and Laura Jane Pritt Collett.

On Jan. 28, 1939, she was married to Bernard L. Pritt, who preceded her in death on June 17, 1984.

She is survived by one daughter, Wanda L. Pritt, with whom she made her home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert G. Pritt and wife, Carolene and H. Kenneth Pritt and wife, Brenda, all of Beverly; four grandchildren, Donnie Pritt and wife Elizabeth, of Beverly, Derrick Pritt and wife, Hollie, of Montrose, Angela Ward and husband, Brad, of Aurora, Colo., and Jeff Pritt of Beverly; five great-grandchildren, Dakota Lee Pritt, Jacob Issac Pritt, Brooke Ashleigh Pritt, Dallas Haley Ward and Morgan Taylor Ward; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Pritt was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by one daughter, Helen Marie Pritt; and six brothers, Glen, Earl, Okey, Albert, Ray and Wilson Collett.

Mrs. Pritt attended the schools of Randolph County and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and the Ladies Missionary Society. She had served as secretary of the Sunday School for several years and had organized and cooked numerous church dinners, helped with fund raisers, taught Sunday school, participated in church plays, sang in the church choir and held every office in the Missionary Society.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Leon Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery near Beverly. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care Corp., 629 North Ave., Elkins, W.Va. 26241, or to the Beverly Volunteer Fire Department, Beverly, W.Va. 26253, in memory of Mrs. Pritt.
