Mary Jocelyn Harr, 86, of Canaan Valley, passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at her home.

She was born April 10, 1917, in Red Creek, the daughter of the late Lorenzo Dow Raines and Carrie Raines.

On March 3, 1943, she married Richard “Dick” Harr, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Carl Harr of Canaan Valley and James Harr and wife, Marilyn, of North Canton, Ohio; two daughters, Barbara Alford and husband, James, of Leadmine and Phyllis Garcia of Waldorf, Md.; one brother, Fred Raines of Elyria, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Jimmy and Mark Alford, Jason, Nathan and Wesley Garcia, and Sarah and Osman Harr; and one great-grandson, Richard Alford.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur, Bruce, Lester and Blake Raines; and four sisters, Ruth Raines, Bess Kisamore, Ethel Smith and Ann Wolford.

Mrs. Harr was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a long-time member of Buena Vista United Methodist Church of Canaan Valley and the Flanagan Hill Senior Outpost.

Friends will be received at the Hinkle Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Buena Chapel United Methodist Church in Canaan Valley with the Rev. Jeff Winter officiating. Interment will follow in the Cortland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care, PO Box 193, Parsons, W.Va. 26287. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
