Mary Jane Johnston -2002 Obituary

Mary Jane Johnston, 59, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at her residence while she was surrounded by her loving family.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Charleston, where she served as the church organist.

She was a former elementary school teacher for many years in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. She also served as an administrative assistant at the Wordsworth Academy in Philadelphia, Pa.

She had a deep love for music and was a highly accomplished organist and pianist.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mildred Jorgensen Holeman.

Surviving are her husband, the Rev. Cyril Johnston; two daughters, Laura and husband, Robert Godfrey, of Cumberland, Md., and Karen Johnston of Morton, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Emma Godfrey, Robin Godfrey and Patrick Godfrey.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, Charleston, with the Rev. Gregg Hickman and the Rev. Charles Steele officiating. Burial will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Lafayette Hill, Pa.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston.
