Mary Margaret Corley Waller 1922-2002 Obituary

Mary Margaret Corley Waller, 80, a resident of 107 Riverview Drive, Elkins, departed this life early Thursday morning, Sept. 19, 2002, at her home. She had been in failing health for the past year and death was attributed to heart failure.

She was born Feb. 21, 1922, at Junior, Barbour County, a daughter of the late Vern L. Corley Sr. and Ica B. Bennett Corley.

On April 15, 1946, at Elkins, she was married to Thomas Floyd “Tom” Waller Sr., who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter-in-law, Sandra Delp Waller; four brothers, Milton C. Corley and wife, Shirley, Robert J. Corley and wife, Nina, Larry A. Corley and wife, Sharon, all of Philippi, and Willis D. Corley and wife, Agnes, Horner; five sisters, Carol V. Holbert and husband, Herbert, Mavis C. Thompson, Karen L. Ketchem and husband, Tommy, all of Philippi, Connie Metheny and husband, Robert, Millboro, Va., and Marian Moore and husband, Ronnie, Worthington; two sisters-in-law, Carmen Corley and Mary Corley, both of Philippi; two granddaughters, Jennifer J. Medina and Rebecca A. Waller; one grandson, Brian Thomas Waller; one great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Rose Medina; and one great-grandson, Thomas Christian “Tommy” Waller, all of Milford, Mass.

She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Floyd Waller Jr., who preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1993; three brothers, Ernest L. Corley, Richard A. Corley and Vern L. Corley Jr.; and one sister, Hilma Jean Corley.

She attended the schools of Junior, was a graduate of Belington High School with the class of 1939, and was a graduate of Laird Memorial Hospital School of Nursing at Montgomery with the class of 1946. She was a former employee of Davis Memorial Hospital, Nella’s Nursing Home, both at Elkins and the Myers Clinic at Philippi. She was a volunteer at Davis Memorial Hospital for several years and had received many awards for her volunteer work. She was a member of Elkins First Church of Christ.

Friends will be received at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Saturday at 11 a.m. Evangelist Gary L. Kendall Sr. will officiate and entombment will follow at Mountain Sate Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Gilman.
