Mary Rosalie Sharp Shipman 1932-2010 Obituary

Mary Rosalie Sharp Shipman, 77, formerly of Mingo,WV went home to be with the Lord Tuesday January 26, 2010 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law: Golda “Toots”and Homer Brake with whom she resided on Becky’s Creek. She was born Tuesday November 29, 1932 in Mingo, WV, a daughter of the late Kessler and Golda Brady Sharp. Mary was twice married. First, she married Woodbridge Oxier on March 22, 1954 who preceded her in death in fall 1999. Her second marriage was to Adrian Shipman on April 10, 1964. He also preceded her in death on July 31, 1999. She attended the schools of Randolph County. She was a lifelong resident of Randolph County. She was employed by Snowshoe as a housekeeper. Mary was Protestant by faith. She attended several area churches, most recently Memorial Mission Church in Mill Creek. Mary loved the outdoors. In earlier years she loved to fish, camp and ginsang. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. She especially loved to go on picnics with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both husbands, three grandchildren,one great-grandchild and one brother: Lawrence Sharp. Mary was a loving mother,grandmother,great-grandmother,aunt,niece and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her survivors include two daughters: Golda “Toots” Brake and husband Homer of Huttonsville, Daphine Simmons and husband Mitch of Green Bank, WV; three sons: John Sharp and wife Lucille of Mingo, Adrian “Bunny” Shipman and wife Romona of Valley Head and grandson she raised as her son: Joseph Shipman and companion Shannon Cassell of Valley Head; grandchildren: Robbie Brake and wife Jackie of Mill Creek, Jennilee Sharp and companion Jason Biggs of Mingo, Brandon Donohoe of Mill Creek, Melissa Reed and husband Lloyd of Green Bank, Angela Bennett and husband John of Cass,WV and Travis Brown of Green Bank; eight great-grandchildren; two special aunts: Della Wood and husband Clarence of Mingo and Libby Rose of Brevard, NC; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday January 29, 2010 at The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services; 100 Meadow Lane; Valley Bend, WV. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday January 29, 2010 at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. William Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in the Mingo Cemetery at Mingo, WV.
